The brightest star nearby is HIP 48881 (magnitude 7.45) . The second brightest star nearby is HIP 48842 (magnitude 9.05). The third brightest star, which is on the lower left corner, is a magnitude 10.25 star. The fourth brightest star, which appears nearby above ISON in the image is a magnitude 11.15 star.
